Privacy Policy
Leben: German Citizenship Test (shown on the Home Screen as “Leben in DE”)
This policy explains what data the Leben app processes and why. The app is made by Denys Vasyliuk, Essen, Germany, who is responsible for this data (the “controller”). Contact: hi@moonage.me.
In short
- You can use the app without an account.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting tools, no selling of data.
- An account is optional and only used to sync your progress between devices.
- You can delete your account and its data from inside the app.
1. Using the app as a guest
Your progress, settings, bookmarks, practice and mock-exam history are stored only on your device. They are not sent to us.
To show questions, the app downloads the question catalogue, translations and images from our backend provider Supabase. As with any internet request, Supabase receives your device’s IP address and basic request data to deliver this content. The catalogue is downloaded without any account information.
2. Signing in with Apple or Google (optional)
If you choose to sign in, Supabase creates an account for you. Depending on the provider and your choices, this account includes an email address (with Apple, possibly a private relay address) and, with Google, your name. The app itself only keeps an account ID and the name of the sign-in provider.
While you are signed in, your learning data is synced to your account so it is available on your other devices. This includes answered, correct and incorrect questions, bookmarks, diagnostic and mock-exam results, study plan and daily goal, streaks, your selected federal state and exam date, language and appearance settings, and the display name or nickname if you entered one.
Your sign-in session is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. Signing out removes the session; your local progress stays on the device.
3. Widgets
Home Screen widgets show your daily plan and practice questions. To do this, the app shares a copy of the relevant data (for example your daily goal, streak and the daily question) with its widgets on your device. The widgets do not send any data over the internet.
4. Why we process data and on what legal basis
- To provide the app, your account and progress sync — to perform our agreement with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To deliver the question catalogue and keep the service secure and working — our legitimate interest in running a reliable app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To answer your emails and support requests — Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.
5. Service providers
Accounts, sync and content delivery run on Supabase, which processes data on our behalf. Supabase may process data on servers outside the EU/EEA; such transfers are covered by Supabase’s data processing agreement and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you sign in with Apple or Google, they process your data under their own privacy policies. The App Store may show you a rating prompt; this is handled by Apple.
6. How long we keep data and how to delete it
We keep account data for as long as your account exists. To delete it, open your profile in the app, then Account → Delete account. This deletes your account and all synced progress, revokes Sign in with Apple, and erases the app’s data on your device. You can also email hi@moonage.me with the subject “Delete my account”, and we will delete your account and confirm.
Guest data can be removed with “Reset progress” in your profile, or by deleting the app.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, write to hi@moonage.me. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in the German state where you live.
8. Security
Sessions are stored in the iOS Keychain and all communication with Supabase is encrypted. Access to synced progress is limited so that each account can only read its own data. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
9. Children
The app is a learning tool for adults preparing for a test and is not directed at children. Please do not create an account for a child without the necessary permission.
10. Changes
If the app or how it handles data changes, we will update this policy on this page and change the date at the top.
